Saba Mahmood Bashir


Saba is a poet, author and a translator. Her first book was a collection of poems, Memory Past (2006) brought out by Writers’ Workshop. Her next book, culled from her PhD thesis, was published by HarperCollins, I Swallowed the Moon: The Poetry of Gulzar (2013), where she places the poet as a progressive poet in popular culture. Saba has also translated Gulzar’s Manzarnama, screenplay of Premchand’sGodaan and Nirmala & Other Stories to be published by Roli Books by end of December 2015. Her forthcoming book is an analysis of the 1975 film, Aandhi. She lives in Delhi with her husband and daughter.
